The two programs have faced each other only 10 times since their inaugural match in 1982, with Penn State holding an all-time record of 8-2 against Louisville. However, this championship clash promises to be a battle between two elite teams boasting exceptional rosters.

The championship stage is set for an exhilarating showdown between the ACC and Big Ten as Louisville and Penn State prepare to vie for NCAA volleyball glory. Both teams enter with momentum and history on the line, promising an unforgettable match.

Earlier this season, on September 3, Penn State achieved an impressive 3-0 sweep over Louisville (25-15, 25-19, 25-13) on their home turf. Now, the rematch moves to Louisville, where the Cardinals will have the advantage of playing at home as they face the Nittany Lions once again.

It all comes down to this. The 2024 NCAA D1 women's volleyball championship game is set, and it'll be Louisville vs. Penn State to determine who will be the last one standing.

Despite losing both of their regular season matchups against Pitt, the top-seeded Cardinals got the last laugh, and took down the No. 1 overall seeded Panthers in four sets (21-25, 25-23, 29-27, 25-17) in the Final Four. Charite Luper and Anna DeBeer both finished with 14 kills and nine digs for top-seeded Louisville, but the latter had to exit early in the fourth set due to a right ankle injury.

As for the Nittany Lions, in a showdown against fellow No. 1 seed and co-Big Ten champion Nebraska, they were able to mount a furious comeback, dropping the first two sets but winning the last three (23-25, 18-25, 25-23, 28-26, 15-13). In what was the first Final Four reverse sweep since 2018, Jess Mruzik had 26 kills and 12 digs, while Carolina Jurevicius posted 20 kills and four blocks.

This will be the second showdown between Louisville and Penn State this season. In what was the third game of the year for both teams, the then-No. 7 Nittany Lions swept the then-No. 4 Cardinals (25-15, 25-19, 25-13) in University Park, Pa. back on Sept. 3.

Louisville is making their second trip to the national championship, and will be seeking to win their first title after getting swept by Texas in 2022. Penn State is in the title game for the first time since 2014, their 11th appearance overall, but are aiming for their eighth championship. Stanford holds the record with nine titles.

Again, though, Maggiore felt compelled to make a big call; to do right by himself. Doing so certainly did not hinder his development; if anything, it helped.

Some people will think I’m stupid for saying that, but we have that belief and confidence that we can win it. Not many people on the outside will think that but I’m sure everyone in this dressing room – the players, the staff and the management – all have that same belief that we can.
Rashford, however, insists there are no truth to those rumours and that he is focused on improving his own game.

Unlike most of the Playoffs, the game isn't on ESPN this year. Below, we've outlined how to tune in, including live streaming options for those without cable.

What channel is Clemson vs. Texas on?
The Clemson vs. Texas game will air on TNT in the United States. The game will kick off on Saturday, December 21, at 4 p.m. ET. Most College Football Playoff games air on ESPN (and ABC), but a new licensing agreement means that TNT will broadcast a few of the games using ESPN announcers.

Where to watch Clemson vs. Texas in the US

The services we've outlined above require US payment methods, so this option will work best for Americans who are simply traveling abroad at the moment.

Southlake Carroll vs Vandegrift Live Texas Football Championship Game In 21 Dec 2024

Both Vandegrift and Southlake Carroll certainly earned their way to AT&T Stadium after thrilling semifinals last week.

The Vipers turned some heads with a 34-31 win over 2023 finalist Summer Creek. Miles Teodecki connected with Jack Rudberg for a 57-yard touchdown with eight minutes left to grab the lead, and the Vandegrift defense did the rest from there.

Southlake Carroll needed all 48 minutes and then some. The Dragons got an extra shot at the game-winning field goal after a roughing the kicker penalty. That’s all Gavin Strange needed as he booted through the 36-yard field goal to knock off Longview 20-17.

Now, after such emotional victories, these teams need one more all-out push this Saturday at 3:00. Here’s what to watch for in the 6A Division II State Title Game.

Southlake Carroll Dragons (15-0)
Head Coach: Riley Dodge (7th season; 93-8 record)

Distance from AT&T Stadium: 21 miles

2024 Playoff Results
Bi-District: W 69-7 vs. Mansfield Legacy

Area: W 49-42 vs. Frenship

Regional Semifinals: W 42-37 vs. Hebron

Regional Final: W 56-45 vs. Guyer

State Semifinals: W 20-17 vs. Longview

Key Players and Storylines
The last time Southlake Carroll was at state, the Quinn Ewers-led Dragons came up short against Cade Klubnik’s Westlake Chaparrals.

But while Ewers and Klubnik do battle again on Saturday, Riley Dodge will be looking for his first state title as Southlake Carroll’s head coach and the Dragons’ first title in 13 years.

Expect Southlake to come out slinging it. Quarterback Angelo Renda had 3,550 passing yards and 36 touchdowns this year. There’s no question who his number one target will be either. That would be TCU commit Brock Boyd (98 catches for 1,690 yards), who is averaging over 100 yards per game with 18 touchdowns on the season.

And if Boyd isn’t there, the Dragons have had sophomores Blake Gunter (726 yards and eight touchdowns) and Brody Knowles (464 receiving yards) prove to be reliable targets as well.

The Dragons did lose running backs USC commit Riley Wormley and Baylor commit Davis Penn to season-ending injuries. However, Christian Glenn has proved he’s more than capable of carrying the load after a 132-yard performance against Longview last week.

Defensively, the Dragons lean on junior linebackers Robbie Ladd and Marcus Brouse, who are among their leading tacklers this season.

Jack VanDorselaer is a four-star commit to Tennessee at tight end, but at 6’5″ and 240 pounds, he can also get after it at defensive end. Vandegrift will have to be weary of him at all times.

Vandegrift Vipers (14-1)
Head Coach: Drew Sanders (15th season; 145-46)

Distance to AT&T Stadium: 202 miles

2024 Playoff Results
Bi-District: W 56-14 vs. Austin High

Area: W 51-0 vs. Sotomayor

Regional Semifinals: W 49-35 vs. Cibolo Steele

Regional Final: W 47-14 vs. Harlan

State Semifinals: W 34-31 vs. Summer Creek

Key Players and Storylines
Vandegrift is back in the state title game for the second time in three years. Back in 2022, DeSoto proved to be too much for the Vipers.

Now, they’re ready for another shot. They certainly showed they have the elite pedigree after their 34-31 win against Summer Creek last week.

And just like the Dragons, they’re going to let their junior quarterback have at it. Miles Teodecki has flourished in the starting role this year with 3,016 passing yards and 46 touchdowns.

If Vandegrift needs a big play, he’ll likely find either Brock Chilton (904 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns) or George Farley (838 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns). Both are averaging over 19 yards a catch, and Farley has good size too at 6’2″.

Senior running back Brendan Fournier will be key to giving the Vipers a balanced attack. He’s up to over 1,100 yards this season, and he had two touchdowns last week.

On the other side of the ball, Arizona State commit Daeshon Morgan can enforce his will in the trenches. He has 82 tackles and 14 tackles for loss this year. And while Morgan comes flying off the edge, the Vipers will rely on nose guard Ian Witt (92 tackles and 14 TFLs) to stuff anything that comes up the middle.

Adam Scott has been a playmaker at linebacker for the Vipers this year, while safety Hollister Stephens is playing his best football at the right time. He has had 35 tackles the past two weeks alone.

Final Thoughts
If you like a good aerial attack, this is the game for you.

With so much passing, turnovers could be something to watch. Both quarterbacks will need to take care of the football on Saturday and be aware of the pass rush threat the opposition presents.

From there, it’s all about getting it in the hands of their playmakers and seeing who can come up with the big plays in the big moments as both head coaches look to bring home their first state titles.

The Corvian Community Cardinals and the Tarboro Vikings will compete for holiday cheer at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Corvian Community comes in on 15 and Tarboro on nine.

Corvian Community is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Mountain Heritage by a score of 28-19. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but the Cardinals were the better team in the second half.

Corvian Community had a senior duo take command as Noah Best gained 104 total yards and two touchdowns and Johnson rushed for 83 yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, Tarboro blew past Wilson Prep, posting a 59-6 victory. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by 30 points or more this season.

Corvian Community better keep an eye on McDowell-Moore. He was instrumental in Tarboro's win, rushing for 140 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, while also picking up 53 receiving yards and one touchdown. McDowell-Moore's longest rush was for an impressive 54 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Caiden Everette was another key player, rushing for 55 yards and two touchdowns.

Tarboro pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Corvian Community, their record is now 15-0.
