Exhibit 250 on why I don't actually bet on games occurred at the end of Navy-SMU, when Navy, a 5 1/2-point favorite which had blown a 22-point halftime lead but was about to cover anyway, elected not to score a tie-breaking TD, preferring a FG to beat SMU but not cover. The Navy QB had a clear path to the end zone but put on the brakes and fell down inside the 1 even though Navy had to use its final timeout. I question that strategy because the Midshipmen were going to have to rush their kicking team on the field for the final play, which can cause all sorts of problems in college football, and SMU would have had virtually no chance of scoring a TD in 30 seconds. But it all worked out because an SMU player went down with a real or fake injury, the refs stopped the clock, Navy got its FG team on the field and was able to calmly wait once the clock started again before kicking the thing with no time left.

I would have broken the TV set in the ECU press box if I had had money on the game.

On to another rough week for most of us, although mono41 created some separation at the top with one of the few high scores.
