He was 88.
I grew up with Tulane baseball under Brockhoff. From 1980 to 1986, I attended virtually every home game, riding my bike to the ballpark after school to catch the end of 1 p.m. doubleheaders and 2 p.m. single games, and the semester before I headed to the University of Florida, I went to every game at the Baton Rouge regional when his team had its greatest postseason success, coming out of the loser's bracket to beat Oklahoma and La Tech before losing a tight one to LSU in the championship round.
His teams could rake.
Lenny Vangilder got good quotes about him at Crescent City Sports. I am going to work on a story for The Advocate.
