The "measurables" for each of the 227 participants in the New Orleans combine are now available:

As a surprise to no one, kids don't run the 40 yard dash as fast as they have claimed. Recognizing the possible errors, as Greenaub has pointed out in the past, only two of 227 participants broke 4.5 seconds in the 40-- Ray Calais from Celia (4.48) and Tre Jackson from University Lab (4.49). Funny, in my recently completed early review of 2016 recruits, I identified Calais as being super fast without knowing his 40 time and opined that Jackson might not have "breakway speed." Well, you win some and lose some, I suppose. At least I identified them as two of the best.
Quite a few players weighed in heavier than listed on the recruiting sites, possibly because they've added "off season" weight, or simply are showing the signs of body maturation since last weighed. Harking back to a discussion a couple weeks ago about how Cole Kelley looks a lot heavier than his listed 220# on recruiting sites: he weighed in at 246# at the combine.
Our one confirmed Louisiana commitment, Ronald Cherry, measured in at 6'2.5" and 280#. He ran a 5.74 40 yard dash, which was faster than only four other DL's of the 32 who participated. His "shuttle" time was only faster than three other DL's. Not sure that means a lot if he's quick for five yards.
Kazmi Antoine, who some have listed as committing to Tulane, measured in at 5'10" and 192#, running the 40 in 4.89, good for 12th place among 17 defensive backs.
Roll Wave!!!
