“I’m predicting a Benavidez decision, in a hard fight though,” Gvodzyk told BoxingScene. “I fought him, I know what he is going to do. I think Morrell is going to have success in the first couple of rounds and then Benavidez will start taking over. [Benavidez] by decision, unanimous decision.”
The Benavidez vs. Morrell main card starts at 8 p.m. ET on February 1, with the prelims at 6 p.m. ET. Benavidez and Morrell should make their way to the ring around 11 p.m. ET, depending on how long the undercard fights last.
Benavidez (29-0) is a two-time WBC super middleweight champion. The 28-year-old moved to light heavyweight and beat Oleksandr Gvozdyk for the interim WBC belt. Morrell (11-0) is a former WBA (Regular) super middleweight champion. He beat Radivoje Kalajdzic in August to win the WBA (Regular) light heavyweight title.
